To accomplish such a feat so soon after takeoff, while maneuvering over the skyscrapers of Manhattan and into the crowded Hudson River, will likely be seen as a testament to the crew's piloting skills.
"It looks like a great bit of flying and great airmanship," said Bob Mann, an airline consultant based in Port Washington, NY.
I think the pilot of US Airways Flight 1549, Chesley Burnett "Sully" Sullenberger III, will be our first candidate for Person of the Year 2009. Nick Parker couldn't have done it any better. (And he being a superhero, that means a lot.)
Now, Alex wouldn't be Alex if he hadn't anything to complain about. In this particular case, that would be that "women and children first" BS.
"Kolodjay told reporters after being rescued that the effort was 'organized chaos,' and that male passengers allowed women to deplane first."
I get that about children first, but what about women? I gather they call that "male disposability."
What was that about equal rights? Equal rights entail equal responsibilities.
Ladies, you probably don't want to get into an air crash with me. Once I'm out, I might hold the door for you, though. But that's as far as it goes. Definitely split checks.
But then, I'm fed up with ladies anyway. Geeks, nerds, tomboys, bitches, and cunts, on the other hand, are always welcome.
Here the comic strip I mentioned in the comments section:

hah, nice one! You know we have a stupid concept of reserving seats for women in the bus. A woman can actually ask a man to get up from the seat if it falls under the "women only" category.
Every time I see something like that happening, I think, "do these morons even understand the concept of 'equal rights?'"
Same goes for the concept of reservation for jobs in India. Those seats would be awarded only to those who get classified as "backward class". And here's the bummer: they call it "equal opportunity for employment" :)
Reminds me of a comic strip I came across the other day. (Here not being enough space, I'll append it to the main post.) I would give my seat to old people, or disabled people, or maybe even to pregnant women (see the strip for that), but just women qua women?
